The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is the national certifying body for medical laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants, and the national professional society for Canada’s medical laboratory professionals. They promote and maintain a nationally accepted standard of medical laboratory technology by which other health professionals and the public are assured of effective and economical laboratory services. They also promote, maintain and protect the professional identity and interests of medical laboratory professionals and those of the profession.

Medical laboratory professionals are dedicated healthcare professionals who often work behind closed doors, however, their role in patient care is vital to the entire healthcare system.
Design Goals:
I was tasked to create a small comic showing medical lab professionals performing their duties in our healthcare system, and showing how they are superheroes inside and outside of the lab.

There are approximately 1.2 million laboratory tests performed by medical lab professionals every day in Canada. Laboratory tests provide a wealth of knowledge to physicians and help diagnose and treat the thousands of health issues that affect Canadians every day like cancer, auto-immune diseases, diabetes, and COVID-19.
Design Goals:
I was tasked to recreate the 7 images depicting lab professionals & personal life used for the video message, including a new illustration depicting phlebotomy, using CSMLS’s colour key for this Indigo Lab Coat campaign. These images were then used for various products such as posters, social media posts, colouring pages, e-cards, and virtual meeting backgrounds.
